Nature, Us and the Future | group show

  • The Vault Virginia 300 East Main Street Charlottesville, VA, 22902 United States (map)

Celebrating the opening of our first female artists' group exhibition "Nature, Us, and The Future"

View my works here.

About the exhibition:

Nature's realistic and familiar shapes can provide a release of tension, particularly during COVID. A tree, a garden, or a mountain scene can transport us to a more tranquil state of mind. That is why it is referred to as Mother Nature. This spring, Guild Gallery invites six distinguished Virginia female artists to exhibit their observations and thoughts on nature.

The exhibition will include more than 60 artworks, which will be divided into three chapters:

  • Chapter One: "Nature" depicts beautiful scenes surrounding us.

  • Chapter Two: “Us” reflects artists’ thoughts on our relationship with nature.

  • Chapter Three: “The Future” addresses the question “What’s next?”.

The exhibition will be on public view from Feb 4th - Apr 22nd, 2022.

About Featured Artists:

Christen Yates is a contemporary landscape painter working primarily in oil. After receiving a BA from the University of Virginia, she received an MA in theology, art, and community development at Regent College in Vancouver, BC, in addition to studies at Emily Carr University of Art & Design. She lives and works on a small homestead by the mountains in Crozet, VA with her family.

Judith Ely is a visual artist who enjoys watercolor, ink, and acrylic painting. Her work entices emotion from the viewer through realism and abstraction. Her training in art is lifelong with drawing and painting study and practice.

Karen Rosasco is a water media artist with over 50 years of experience. After 40 years of painting realistic interpretations of landscapes, florals, and architectural themes, she has turned her focus to the relationships between the basic elements of art - shape, value, line, color, and texture--finding those to be more exciting and personal.

Lesli DeVito is a self-taught acrylic painter. She received her BFA and MFA in Theatre Performance. Her subjects run the gamut, but the grounding force behind all of her work is her unique use of color and whimsy. Lesli now resides in Crozet, VA, with her family.

Phyllis Koch-Sheras, Ph.D., is a practicing clinical psychologist, published author, opera singer, and artist. Her work has been exhibited on the cover of The American Psychologist and in numerous local exhibits over the last four decades.

Susan Patrick is an abstract painter inspired by the real world and heavily influenced by her inner universe. She began painting after a traumatic personal inevitability. Painting is an event as well as a refuge for her.
